Study Guide for Cisco CCNA

Got my CCNA today 5/21/2012. Was an intense test. Working on the CCNA Wireless now.

Like most have been searching for “That perfect study guide” that gets to the point and does not waste extra words, time, or strays from what exactly is on the test. Too many books get wordy and spend pages on un-needed topics and complexity.

My desire is to learn the CCNA material like a pro, and to pass with 100%.

After kicking through a lot of books from the Odem books by Cisco Press, and even CCNA for Dummies, think I found a truly great “system” for studying for the test that is to the point and entertaining!

Sent Todd Lammle a few emails with questions about his CCNA book and video course that goes along with it and he actually replied promptly. Really like authors that talk to people using their material. You can tell he’s a good guy and is truly interested in teaching this material.

This book is 800 pages and very on topic. Even has a pullout that lists all the CCNA learning objectives and corresponding section of the book.

The CD has a few video’s covering beginning chapters. A 30 minute audio is included that covers some basic networking and goes over his subnetting method (I find it understandable and do-able, unlike most subnetting methods). There are great flashcards on the CD and a test engine!

If you want to go the extra mile, get the $99.00 30 day access to the video training that goes with the book. With access to the site you get practice questions and online assisted learning via an active forum. Todd mentioned he keeps the practice questions up to date and to check for new ones often.

Every chapter of the book is covered in depth. Many hours of material to view. So far having a great time with it.

Also got the review guide. Very to the point on learning objectives covered in main material.

INE has an amazing series of video’s for the CCNA and many other of the Cisco Certifications. This was an Amazing help for me. The video’s have enough detail to really learn the material. I have these Cisco CCNA Video series playing over and over on my trusty iPad when working on a certification. http://www.ine.com/self-paced/ccna/bootcamps.htm
