After dealing with over 1000+ UCS blades… the 15% of blades that are bare metal are exponentially more trouble than the 85% running ESX. Bare Metal kills managing UCS effectively. Code updates become impossible quickly using bare metal unless servers can be rebooted and drivers updated on the OS regularly. Especially with a diversity of Bare Metal servers on a UCS this can leave blades in “Pending” indefinitely.
“Just say No” to Bare Metal on UCS (unless it is an ESX or Hyper-V Server).
