Having been booting from SAN and not always loving it, wondering how others feel about iSCSI boot in2.0? To me this is a game changer. WAY EASIER.
It does seem that a single boot profile cannot be used like with boot from SAN. The iSCSI ID isn’t static like the target used in boot from SAN.
That makes some extra steps in provisioning. But still much cheaper in some cases. There are storage devices that can do FC and iSCSI like the new HP EVA’s http://h20195.www2.hp.com/V2/GetPDF.aspx/4AA3-2591ENW.pdf and if I can ever get it working (for super cheap) http://www.openfiler.com/ or http://www.freenas.org/.
