For a new Cisco UCS build in a data center, this is the architecture I start with. The VPC pair can be removed if connectivity is possible with Appliance Ports. The VPC pair does allow for each uplink to serve each FI.
For boot a small SAN device is my preference. Only 1 boot profile is needed for that, unlike boot from NAS that requires an updated boot profile for each b or c series server.
